Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, the Chemical Engineering Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a training workshop titled “Chemical Hazards” on Sunday, 30 November 2025, held in the hall of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Omar.
The workshop was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Rana Thabit Abd and Lect. Hind Hassan Abdulhussein, in the presence of the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Rasha Habeeb Salman, along with several faculty members and students.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the risks associated with handling chemicals in laboratories and to promote a culture of occupational safety among students by highlighting preventive practices and protective measures required to ensure a safe working environment.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations emphasizing the importance of adhering to personal protective equipment, the continuous updating of safety guidelines, and encouraging students to follow laboratory instructions and apply practical training on how to handle emergency situations inside laboratories.
This workshop is part of a series of activities aimed at enhancing awareness of chemical safety practices within the college and developing students’ practical skills in line with the College of Engineering’s goals of providing a safe educational environment that supports creativity and responsible academic work.
